Astoria Column
Astoria Column

A must-see when visiting the Officer's Inn is the Astoria Column, on top of Coxcomb hill in the center of Astoria.  It is a copy of a Trajan column in Italy. The Column's spiral mural portrays the early development of Astoria from the time of the visit of Captain Gray's ship until the founding of the town of Astoria.  From the column and the surrounding grounds you will enjoy a spectacular view of the Columbia river, Fort Clatsop (Where Lewis and Clark wintered in 1805), and the Pacific Ocean.  Enjoy the view from the surrounding park, or if you feel like a workout you can climb up the inside of the Column on its spiral staircase.  The cost?  FREE, of course!

The Officer's Inn is only 15 minutes from the Astoria Column.  Stay with us!
