Frequently Asked Questions
Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently Asked Questions:

Where is the Officer's Inn?:  We are located 8 miles west of Astoria, at Fort Stevens, where the Columbia River meets the Pacific Ocean.  Technically the Officer's Inn is in Hammond, Oregon, which was annexed into Warrenton.  But we're about 10 minutes from downtown Astoria at Fort Stevens State Park.

Is there an ocean view?:  Nope.  We're close enough to the ocean that you can hear the waves, but the ocean is on the other side of a coastal forest.

Are pets allowed?:  Nope.  Tried it for a while.  Bad idea.  Everyone has a "good little dog"....

What's for breakfast?:  We cook a real breakfast at the Officer's Inn, not just donuts and fruit like some other B&B's.  And we don't take the easy way out with pancakes, either.  It's All-American home cooked food to get you ready for your day, and it's included with the lodging!

Is there a strip joint nearby?:  Annies Tavern in Astoria is the closest.  Ask for the Officer's Inn Special when you go there.  And don't forget to take lots of "Ones"!

What are check-in and check-out times?:  Check-in between 4 and 5 PM, unless prior arrangements are made.  Check-out is 11:00 AM.

Where's the best place to eat dinner?:  Buoy 9 Restaurant is within walking distance just down the road.  It's great.  Best bet is Doogers, near Fred Meyer on highway 101.  Want some place fancy?  Go into downtown Astoria where there's lots of great places to choose from.

Can we stay at the Officer's Inn for free?  Can you wash dishes?
